Tatau, Malaysia

I just returned from a trip home to visit my family.  I brought my Sony camera and goPro with me on the trip.  Below are some photos from this trip.

Humans of Tatau

Rio Lim

~He was born on May 19th, 2012, his name is Rio Lim.  Every evening that he was home, he asked to go to the local play ground. I accompanied him to play ground and snapped a few photos of him. This is a full frame shot, taken with Sony A7II.

Bao Yi Sim

“Curiosity or Fear”
~Her name is Bao Yi Sim, she is almost 3 years old. She is a very smart and an innocent girl and a good friend of my nephew, Rio Lim. She is an orphan, losing her father to cancer at a very young age over 2 years ago.
She was having fun pretending to be a hair stylist when I walked in to get my haircut. Being a stranger to her, she immediately stopped and kept on starring at me. Curiosity or fear, what went through her mind, no one knows. I snapped a few photos using my GoPro Hero 3+. Converted and edited on iPhone 6+.

Jason Kong

~His name is Jason Kong. He is my friend and also a classmate. Jason is handicapped: he lost his ability to walk to polio when he was a baby. Despite the challenges he faces daily, he has always been an optimistic person. He is a very talented person. I have been gone for about 16 years, he is now a local tattoo artist. As always, a very cheerful person, he was having fun kicking some butts at snooker tablet at the local entertainment place.
Here is a shot of Jason getting ready to take his next shot at the table. Shot taken with GoPro Hero 3+, converted into B&W, edited in iPhone 6+

Pearl’s Cafe

~They are mother and son, my cousins.  This is their daily routine, busy selling noodles to make a living.  Her name is Pearl in Chinese, hence, the restaurant is named after her.  If you are ever in Tatau, it is a one of the popular places to go for your breakfast.
